Health and safety is everyone's responsibility. We offer both general health and safety training sessions and the Highfield accredited health and safety Level 2 course. Courses can be delivered on-site where there is sufficient room usage available.
General health and safety
This covers general health and safety topics and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your organisation.
Level 2 Health and Safety
This is an accredited course that covers 18 core health and safety topics to provide learners with knowledge of the basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace. Learners will need to attend for a full day and will need to pass a multiple choice assessment at the end to be certificated.
Level 3 Risk Assessment
This is an accredited course that covers the importance of health and safety in the workplace and the core principles of risk assessment. The course looks at the hierarchy of control measures to reduce risk and hazard to acceptable levels and show application of this knowledge in a practical assessment. Learners will need to attend for a full day and will need to pass a multiple choice assessment alongside the practical assessment to be certificated.
Infection Prevention and Control
Infection prevention supports health and safety as it reduces risks caused by ill-health, hazardous substances and cleaning. This can be done as a training session or learners can complete the Level 2 qualification for an accredited certificate.

Topics covered include awareness of : accidents and ill-health, slips and trips, legislation, risk assessment, hazardous substances, PPE, workplace health and welfare, fire safety and first aid, manual handling, work equipment and electricity.
The qualification provides learners with an understanding in the responsibilities of employers and employees, the benefits of good health and safety, steps to a risk assessment and how they can reduce accidents, near misses and ill-health, typical hazards and controls in a workplace, common causes of accidents, near misses and ill-health, emergency procedures and the importance of recording accidents, near misses and ill-health.
This qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility to conduct risk assessments at low risk premises. It covers the principles of risk assessment, the relationship between hazard and risk and requires learners use the knowledge learned on the course by undertaking a risk assessment. Therefore, laying a foundation for further development as a risk assessor.
Topics covered include: causes and spread of infection, responsibilities and legislation guidelines, personal hygiene and effective hand washing, use of PPE and the principles of infection prevention and control.
The aim of this qualification is to develop understanding of the causes of infection, the importance of personal hygiene, principles of decontamination and the principles of infection prevention.
